This was my first time. The best parts were when we went on excursions because it really gave us a chance to bond all together outside the college. It felt like we became a family. I would recommend the course to any of my friends looking for a summer camp! The counsellors were all so nice, the lessons were interesting where you learn a lot of new vocabulary.

School

d'Overbroeck's

They are often asked “What makes d’Overbroeck’s different from other schools?”. The answer lies in their shared values and a relaxed but vibrant atmosphere, where the individual is key and laughter is an essential part of everyday life. Their ethos is firmly built on personal relationships, on a relative lack of stuffiness and formal hierarchies, and on a strong belief that every individual is at the heart of the school. At the same time, their approach is distinctly collaborative. They believe in leading by example, in a healthy dose of flexibility and in the power of laughter and humanity. ‘Enthusiasm’, ‘maturity’ and ‘courtesy’ are words that visitors to the school frequently theme to describe them. They provide an environment which gives both staff and students the space to be themselves as well as the encouragement and stimulus to grow, to learn, to engage with complexity and to achieve their goals. And they’ll also have time for friendship, laughter and living life to the full.

Destination

Oxford

Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires, is famous the world over for its University and place in history. Nowadays, the city is a bustling cosmopolitan town. Still with its ancient University, but home also to a growing hi-tech community. Many businesses are located in and around the town, whether on one of the Science and Business Parks or within one of a number of residential areas.

English Level Requirement : CEFR and Language Assessment

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: learning, teaching, assessment, (CEFR), was created by the Council of Europe to be a language standard that describes the ability of English language learners in speaking, reading, writing and listening and measures learners’ learning outcomes at different stages.

This standard is widely recognised and used by educational institutions, enterprises and governments around the world and provides general guidance for the development of language syllabuses, curriculum and textbook design, language testing, etc.

Additionally, many internationally recognised English language tests, such as IELTS and Aptis, are associated with this standard as a reference for test score grading. In describing a language learner’s ability, in terms of speaking, reading, listening and writing, CEFR is broadly categorised into the Levels below:
