Warwickshire’s second-largest hub, Rugby is an attractive market town whose history dates back to the Iron Age. But it’s most famous for the sport that was invented here and now takes its name, and is a place of pilgrimage for fans. The game was invented at prestigious Rugby School in 1823 when William Webb Ellis is said to have caught the ball during a football match and broken the rules by running with it.
